Kali is a small island village approximately 15 kilometers long. It is located three nautical miles from Zadar or about 30 minutes by boat. Kali is situated on the southern part of the island of Ugljan and is part of the Zadar archipelago. It borders the settlement of Preko to the north and Kukljica to the south.

The economy of Kali is largely based on fishing and mariculture. One of the strongest fishing fleets on the Adriatic is based in Kali, consisting of around 30 modern vessels between 20 and 40 meters in length, specialized in blue fish fishing. Agricultural production is primarily focused on olive growing.
