Lukoran is a village in the central part of the northeastern coast of the island of Ugljan, located along the central fertile field and picturesque bays. The bay - port of Lukoran, especially the very good operational coast, are protected from most winds, except those from the western quadrant, tramontana and stronger sea breeze (maestral).
It is one of the most picturesque places on the island of Ugljan. It is located between the towns of Sutomišćica and Ugljan. The beaches are surrounded by a centuries-old pine forest. The economy is based on agriculture, viticulture, olive growing, fishing and tourism. It was mentioned in 1075 in the Middle Ages as the property of the Zadar Benedictines. The Church of St. Lawrence with Romanesque features was built in 1877, and took over the same title of the abandoned church in the cemetery. The new church was built from the foundations, so there are no traces of earlier periods in it, only the altars were transferred from the old church. Below Zmorašnji Lukoran are the remains of a Gothic church and buildings; according to tradition, they were built by Egyptian monks in the 14th century.
Lukoran consists of the following hamlets: Mali Lukoran, Turkija, Zmorac, Primorje, Punta, Rančićevi-Sikirićevi. Lukoran is full of coves and beaches with pine forests. Several country houses of Zadar noble families, the most famous of which is the summer residence of the de Ponte family from the 17th century.
